Impact of the Election on the Trucking Industry
With 41% of drivers expressing uncertainty about the election's impact, it is clear that the trucking industry is bracing for a range of possible scenarios. While 32% of respondents are hopeful the industry will be positively impacted by the election, 15% anticipate negative effects. This uncertainty reflects broader concerns about policy changes and regulatory shifts that could influence the day-to-day operations and economic stability of the trucking industry.
Expectations for the Future
Truckers are skeptical about whether political candidates truly grasp the complexities of the industry, with 46% of respondents feeling that the candidates lack a deep understanding.
In addition, 32% of truckers believe that while the candidates might have some awareness of the industry’s issues, their understanding is limited.
Looking ahead, truckers exhibit a mix of optimism and concern. About 28% of respondents are somewhat pessimistic about the industry's future, whereas 27% are somewhat optimistic. A neutral stance is held by 24%.
Policy Priorities
When asked about policy priorities, truckers identified fuel price regulations (34%) and infrastructure improvements (32%) as top concerns.
Career Outlook
Our survey confirms a concerning trend: many truckers are likely to leave the industry within the next four years.
Specifically, 27% of respondents are very likely to exit, raising red flags about workforce stability.
Legislative Outlook
According to our results, 66% of truckers believe that Congress will not succeed in bringing legislation that benefits truckers to a vote or enacting it into law.
